light
Light is electromagnetic radiation within a certain portion of the electromagnetic spectrum, this means the word usually refers to visible light, which is visible to the human eye and is responsible for the sense of sight.
refraction
Refraction is the bending of a wave when it enters a medium, where the speed is different. The refraction of light when it passes from a fast medium to a slow medium bends the light ray toward the normal to the boundary between the two media.
reflection
- this need to be focused to a point for example sunlight reflected off a concave telescope mirror
- this appear to come from a point behind the mirror for example a glass
This is important to remember as the lights changes colour. Without the green spectrum of light at the time of sunset, leaves appear to be yellow or black. Similarly under orange street lamps, Blue, Green and Purples appear black.
Here are some examples of light
spectrum of light
The visible spectrum is the portion of the electromagnetic spectrum that is visible to the human eye. Radiation in this range of wavelengths is called visible light or simply light. A typical human eye will respond to wavelengths from about 390 to 700 nano meters
